Schuylkill deputy coroner Detweiler fired

Schuylkill County deputy coroner/investigator Debra Detweiler, who lost her bid to become county coroner running against incumbent Dr. David Moylan, has been fired effective Nov. 17. Moylan had 17,759 votes while Detweiler had 14,172.

Detweiler, of West Brunswick Township, was employed by the coroner’s office for 26 years. The termination was reported during the commissioner’s workshop meeting Wednesday, as well as the appointment of Joseph DeSena, of Lake Township, as Deputy Coroner/Investigator, effective Nov. 25. The deputy coroner position is part-time, with no benefits, with employees paid per a fee schedule.
