Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council recently took the following action:

• Appointed Scott Ledo as the new code enforcement officer.

• On a 6-0 vote, with an abstention from Councilwoman Jennifer Wentz, approved the Teamsters Contract renewal from 2021-2025.

• Agreed to close out the Veterans Memorial contract for this year.

• Agreed to sell a borough spreader for $1,000.

• Announced that Christmas trees for the third annual tree lighting event will be arriving Nov. 23. About 40 trees have been purchased for the event, which will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 7.

• Granted permission for fire police to attend the Snowflake 5K Walk/Run in Lehighton on Dec. 7.

• Approved a request from A Tree of Heaven to treat the spotted lanternfly on borough property.

• Agreed to hold its workshop on Dec. 12, and its regular borough council meeting on Dec. 19.
