Schuylkill man jailed for assaulting police
A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Monday for assaulting police after they attempted to take him into custody on another matter.
State police at Frackville said several troopers arrived at 128 N. Lehigh St., Shenandoah, at 10:20 a.m. to take Michael Crestuk, 35, into custody relative to a previous incident. Upon members attempting to place him into custody he began to fight with the troopers forcing them to use a stun gun and baton to overcome his resistance. Several members sustained minor injuries in the struggle.
Crestuk was arraigned before District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah, on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and related counts. He was placed in the county prison in Pottsville, after failing to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
