Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners on Thursday acted on or discussed the following items:

• Authorized the advertisement for bids for the Emergency Operations Training Center phase 1B project. Commissioner William O’Gurek abstained due to his other employment.

• Approved the reappointment of Roger Schoenberger of Palmerton; Dr. Justin Cunfer of Lehighton and Commissioner Wayne E. Nothstein to their respective positions on the Carbon County Conservation District.

• Approved the appointment of Marybeth Ferguson, assistant regional director, Southeast Pennsylvania and the Poconos, state Department of Labor and Industry, to the Pocono Counties Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act Development Board.

• Approved the appointment of Karl Verren of Carbon County Auxiliary Communications System, to the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

• Approved the purchase and installation of cabinets and countertops at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office by The Kitchen Gallery and Design Center Inc. of West Hazleton at a cost of $10,215.

• Approved a quote from Johnson Controls of Allentown to mount, adjust and program two new cameras at the Carbon County Courthouse and add six IP cameras from the administration building to the Exact System. The quote price is $2,820.33.

• Approved an agreement with Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC for financial consulting services for 2020 at a fee not to exceed $87,500.

• Approved a change order with Bruce George Paving and Excavating of Kunkletown for the Emergency Operations Training Center road project. The change order decreases the contract $62,986.31 for a new contract price of $764,438.56.

• Approved the retirement of Peter J. Gulick of Nesquehoning, parking/meter attendant, effective Dec. 20.
