A look back: Nov. 26, 1979
Tribute was paid to the victims of the Gnadenhuetten Massacre of 1755 during a program held at the massacre site in Lehighton on Saturday afternoon.
About 100 people listened as Dr. John Weinlick, past chairman of the Moravian Historical Society, retraced the events that happened 224 years back.
The program was held at the Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, South Fourth Street, where a memorial marker and giant slab of slate were recently positioned at the precise spot of the senseless slaying by Indians.
The program was sponsored by the Lehighton Rotary Club with Austin Blew serving as program chairman.
