A look back: Nov. 30, 1982

The Carbon County commissioners and the county’s Office on Aging announced the schedule of distribution of processed American cheese and butter to eligible recipients.

To receive the commodities, eligible residents need to be 65 or older; disabled veterans; or individuals, couples or families whose members qualify for public assistance, food stamps or medical assistance, including Medicaid and Supplemental Social Security.

Distributions will take place in Palmerton, Lansford, Weatherly, Lehighton and Jim Thorpe. Recipients must provide identification cards and information to prove their eligibility.
