Four people were hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 7:59 p.m. Nov. 24 on the Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton identified them as Mark A. Benner, 21, the driver of the vehicle, John M. Stafiniak, 21, and Matthew G. Eckhart, 20, all of Lehighton, and Joshua W. Ritter, 20, of Palmerton. Police said the extent of their injuries is unknown. All of the victims refused a medical transport by the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association.

Police said Benner was operating a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Forest Inn Road and was negotiating a curve in the roadway when the vehicle left the right side of the road, striking a rock with its right rear. The car then traveled across the northern lane and went down an embankment, coming to rest against a tree.

Police said Benner was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
