A Walnutport man has been charged with assaulting another man after he was drove through a farm owner’s fields.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. John J. Henry III of the Lehigh Township Police Department:

At 1:10 a.m. Sept. 29, police were called to the 4800 block of South Cypress Drive for people fighting.

Henry spoke with the defendant, Jacob George, 20, who said he was attacked by two men. George had cuts on his right knuckles and a small cut on his left eyelid. He smelled like alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

A farm owner then told police someone drove a pickup through the fields at his farm.

He, along with two other men, suspected George and went to his home to speak with him.

The farm owner said that when the other two men arrived, George, unprovoked, punched one of the men in the face and “knocked (him) out.”

The two men then got out of the vehicle to try to calm things down, and saw the other man unconscious and lying on the ground, with George on top of him.

The victim went to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. He had a concussion and fractured jaw.

George faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, and purchase of alcoholic beverage by a minor.

He is currently incarcerated in the Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, and was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 5 before District Judge Robert A. Hawke of Walnutport.
