Tree lightings

• Parryville will be holding its fourth annual tree lighting ceremony at the borough hall Dec. 14. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. with the tree lighting set for 6 p.m. Grab the family, an ornament you’d like to add to the tree and join us for some holiday festivities! Hot chocolate and coffee will be provided by the Parryville Fire Company, chili from Riverwalck Saloon, custom Christmas crafts from Knot Just Pallets, custom flannels by Emily at Livin Hella Good, Christmas caroling by members of the Lehighton Area High School and fresh cookies by members of our community.

Other events

• The Harry Packer Mansion, 19 Packer Ave. in Jim Thorpe, is again hosting its “Nutcracker Holiday Displays” self-guided tour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the holiday season. The tours run through the end of December. Tours are open to the public and are available between 4 and 9 p.m. on Fridays, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There is an admission fee for anyone 8 years old and older. Special fundraisers for area nonprofits are also available.

• Summit Hill: Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. at Lansford Legion Post 123, Lansford Alive annual Christmas party and Black Diamond award presentation. This year the award will be presented to Panther Valley Lumber. This is also the first year the party is open to the general public as a community event.

Dec. 19 from 6-8 p.m., annual Christmas house decorating contest judging will take place and gift certificates will be award.

• Pocono Greyhound Adoption will be holding a Pet Photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Tractor Supply Co. in Lehighton. All proceeds benefit Pocono Greyhound Adoption and help retired racing greyhounds find homes.

• Pet photos with Santa will take place at the Carbon County Friends of Animals shelter, 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe, from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday; 3-6 p.m. Dec. 19 and 21; and 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 23.
