Carbon County court — DUI guilty pleas

A total of 15 defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas on Thursday morning in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:

Scott Michael Albert Sr., 54, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 20 along Third Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed he presence of a controlled substance.

Serfass sentenced Albert to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, a year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin serving the jail term at 9 a.m. on Dec. 28 and serve two days; and Jan. 3 at 9 a.m. and serve one day.

Mustafa Alonzo Clark, 26, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Dec. 25, 2015, along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. Clark was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.

Serfass sentenced him tot serve 72 hours to 6 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, 1 year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin the jail term a 9 a.m. on Dec. 28.

Gary Irvin Davis, 38, of Lehighton, was arrested on Aug. 30 by Lehighton police along Route 443. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so Davis can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Jason Eliot Gaudreau, 38, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Aug. 30 along Lehigh Avenue by Jim Thorpe police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of resisting arrest.

Sentencing was deferred so he can apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.

Christina Marie Heppard, 51, of Broomall, Montgomery County, was arrested on Sept. 20 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.

A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.

Thomas James Hosler, 28, of Palmerton, was arrested on May 5 by Summit Hill police along Route 209. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to time-served (19 days) to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. The term runs concurrent with a prison sentence he is serving in the county prison.

David Charles Leslie, 61, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on July 13, 2018, by Palmerton police along Lafayette Avenue. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.

He was sentenced to serve 14 days to six months in jail and pay a fine of $300.

He will begin the jail term on Jan. 3 at 3 p.m. and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Robert Repa, 31, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Aug. 31 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC.

He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Jan. 4 and serve three days; then 9 a.m. on Jan. 11 and serve two days.

Robin Scott Rhyder, 56, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 23 by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred. Rhyder is currently an inmate in the county prison on a parole violation.

Timothy P. Robinson, 35, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 13, 2018, by Palmerton police along Mauch Chunk Road. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to time served (84 days) to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He is currently an inmate in the county prison serving another sentence.

Michael A. Rossi, 37, of Hazleton, was arrested on Aug. 16 by Weatherly police along Plane Street after being involved in a crash. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.

Serfass sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500, one-year license suspension, render 25 hours of community service and make restitution of $125.

He will being the jail term at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 and serve one day; then Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. and serve one day.

Mark Warren Solt, 55, of Ashfield, was arrested on June 8 by state police at Lehighton along Route 895 in Bowmanstown. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.

He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.

Jeffrey Alan Stevens, 51, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 22 by state police at Lehighton along Bridge Street in Weissport. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.

He was sentenced to serve 10 days to 24 months in jail, pay a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 100 hours of community service. On a driving under suspension charge - DUI related, he was sentenced to serve 45 to 90 days in jail, but must serve the full 90 days, and pay a fine of $1,000. The prison terms run concurrently.

He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Jan. 4.

Charles Zebley, 58, of Kunkletown, was arrested on June 3 by Lehighton police along East Penn Street. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.

He was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, supply a DNA sample and render 100 hours of community service. On a driving under suspension - DUI related charge he was sentenced to serve 45 to 60 days in jail, but must serve the full 90 days, and pay a fine of $500. The jail terms run concurrently.

He will begin the jail term on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Robert A. Zimmerman, 51, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on Nov. 20, 2018, by state police at Lehighton along Long Run Road in Franklin Township. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.

He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $750 and one-year license suspension.

He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 and serve one day; then Dec. 27 and serve two days; then Dec. 31 and serve two days.

Drug case

Paula Marie Brown, 40, currently an inmate in the state correctional institution at Muncy, Lycoming County, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested on July 21, 2018, by Franklin Township police in the area of the Square One Market off Route 209.

She was sentenced to time-served (seven days) to six months in jail, ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 25 hours of community service.

She is in the state prison being evaluated for the state Intermediate Punishment Program.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
