A look back: Jan. 6, 1987

Judge John P. Lavelle presided over an impressive session of the Carbon County Court on Monday morning, when two members of the country’s Bar Association were formally inducted.

They are David W. Addy of Willow Grove and Christie E. Schaffer of 402 Third St., Lehighton.

Attorney Jean Engler of Jim Thorpe introduced attorney Addy to the court while attorney William Schwab of Lehighton had the honor of presenting the petition for attorney Schaffer. The two new lawyers received their juris doctorate degrees from Villanova and Rutgers universities, respectively.

Addy has been serving as a law clerk under Judge Lavelle in the courthouse in Jim Thorpe.
