Monroe driver facing DUI count

A Monroe County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge.

State police at Stroudsburg said Alvan Thompson, 62, of Tobyhanna, was stopped at 1:41 p.m. on Dec. 26 along Route 611, at Woodland Road, in Paradise Township, for speeding.

At the stop, Thompson was found to be under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest for DUI and taken to the county DUI center for a blood draw.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.
