Coaldale
Borough secretary
The Coaldale borough secretary’s office hours have changed for Tuesdays only. New hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The borough secretary’s office will also be closing at noon Friday and remain closed through Jan. 22. Regular hours will resume Jan. 23.
Nesquehoning
Historical society
The Nesquehoning Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Jan. 28. The agenda will be focused on business questions and event planning for the new year.
The Nesquehoning Historical Society is located in the former Nesquehoning Baptist Church at 157 W. Railroad St.

Meed’s Memorial
Meed’s Memorial United Methodist Church, 126 W. Catawissa St., has announced the following schedule at the church.
Sunday services will be held at 11 a.m. nursery and children’s Sunday school are available during the service.
The church also hosts a clothing ministry from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The church’s monthly free community dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.
Hometown Heroes banners
The Nesquehoning UVO and the Nesquehoning Historical Society is accepting applications for the 2020 Hometown Heroes banner program.
Applications may be picked up at the Nesquehoning VFW, 300 E. Center St., and are due no later than Feb. 1.

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for Jan. 20-24 is:
Monday: Chicken & dumplings, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, pears or chicken salad sandwich
Tuesday: Barbecue pork patty, sweet potatoes, green beans, cottage cheese with fruit or turkey sandwich
Wednesday: Egg & cheese bake, diced potatoes, peppers & onions, biscuit, melon or salad with beef
Thursday: Mexican chicken, black beans, corn, pineapples or chicken salad
Friday: Split pea soup, open face hot pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, orange or chicken Caesar pita
The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events for Jan. 20-31.
Horse Racing on Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.; Lottery Bingo on Jan. 21 at 10:45 a.m.; Nickel-Keeno on Jan. 22 at 11 a.m.; Saran Wrap Ball Game on Jan. 23 at 11 a.m.; Movie & Popcorn on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.

Public library tax help
The Panther Valley Public Library will offer assistance to seniors age 60 and older who qualify for the rent/property tax rebate in preparing federal income tax form 1040 and the Pennsylvania tax return.
This service will be offered at the library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 14 and March 20.
Appointments are required for these services.
Donations to support the library will be accepted.
