Two Tamaqua men face charges after fight
Two Tamaqua men face simple assault and disorderly conduct charges after a fight on Dec. 15, 2019.
Police were dispatched for a large fight outside of the Pine Street Pub. According to police, approximately 15 people were on the sidewalk and street, yelling and screaming.
Police saw two men “nose-to-nose,” later identified as Christian A. Melendez, 26, and Thomas L. Williams, 39.
A group of witnesses claimed that Williams was yelling at them inside the bar. Then outside of the bar, the witnesses, some of which had cuts on their faces, claimed that Williams just started swinging.
Throughout the entire interview with police, Melendez kept screaming and was told numerous times to stop. Melendez admitted to punching Williams because he allegedly “went after his cousins.”
After speaking to the initial group of witnesses, police spoke to Williams, who claimed that he was jumped by five people. He said he was hurt on his head, face and cut on his wrist. Williams said he had witnesses and would bring them to court.
