Injuries are averted in two interstate crashes
State police at Frackville reported on two crashes on Interstate 81.
A Pottsville man escaped injuries in a tractor-trailer crash at 3:19 p.m. Jan. 18 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township.
State police at the Frackville barracks said Andrew M. Zepnikowski, 44, was driving a 2016 Freightliner southbound when he lost control of it and it crossed into the left lane of traffic, veered off the roadway, traveled up an embankment and struck a tree.
In a second incident, police said Richard E. Boccaleri, 30, of Ashland, was driving a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound in Mahanoy Township when he lost control of the vehicle and it struck an embankment on the right side of the road. His passenger was Deborah Broome, 63, also of Ashland.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
