Police: Suspect posed as water company worker to enter home
State police at Bethlehem are investigating a daylight burglary incident in Washington Township.
Police said the suspects entered a home on the pretense that they worked for the water company.
Troopers said on Jan. 18, at 5:12 p.m. they were dispatched to the 6700 block of Bruce Lane, Washington Township, Lehigh County, for the report of a disturbance.
They met with the homeowner, a 75-year-old man, who reported he received a knock on the door by a man claiming to be from the water company working for the county. He told the victim he was checking the water pressure at residences in the area.
The suspect was permitted to come inside and check the water pressure of the kitchen faucet. Upon walking the suspect out of the residence the victim observed three additional men inside his residence.
The victim reported he walked them out of his house and saw them drive away in a light van onto Route 873.
While inside the residence the three men stole various items that belonged to the victim.
Troopers are asking anyone with information regarding this burglary to call them at 610-861–2026 and reference incident number PA20-85444.
