Tamaqua woman not wearing seat belt, ejected when car door opens
A Tamaqua woman was injured on Sunday when the passenger side door in a vehicle she was riding in suddenly opened, ejecting her from the vehicle.
State police at Hazleton said the incident occurred at 2:48 p.m. along Route 924 (Cando Expressway) in Hazle Township, Luzerne County.
Troopers said Richard E. Michlovsky, 58, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2001 Volvo S40 when the passenger side door malfunctioned, causing Kayla M. Hoover, 28, who was not wearing a seat belt in the front passenger side seat, to be ejected from the vehicle.
Michlovsky stopped the vehicle and got Hoover back in the vehicle and drove her to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus, for treatment of her injuries.
Troopers cited Michlovsky for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
