Woman charged with possession of heroin
A New Tripoli woman has been charged with possession of heroin.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Michael Mish of the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office:
On Feb. 7, Mish served a search warrant to a home at Jefferson Court, New Tripoli, the residence of Rachael Betz, 33, and Alberto Rivera-Rosario.
Both Betz and Rivera-Rosario were present when Mish arrived.
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of over 200 grams of tan powder; about 1,548 white glassine packets containing tan powder; digital scales; a grinder coated in residue; additional unused packets; over $22,000 in cash; and one firearm with an obliterated serial number.
A sample of the powder tested positive for heroin.
The bulk heroin and glassine bags of heroin were on the living room floor in an unsecured black plastic box and backpack.
The money was in bundles in six locations through the residence and the gun was also atop a dresser.
Betz has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and conspiracy to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
She is currently free after she posted $50,000 bail.
A new preliminary hearing date has yet to be set.
Rivera-Rosario was charged earlier this month with intent to deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms; and possession of firearm with altered manufacturer’s number.
