Tamaqua man jailed for harassment

Published January 06. 2016 08:26AM

Kevin Leibensperger, 52, who has no permanent address, rang in the new year in a jail cell in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.

Leibensperger was picked up by Tamaqua police after he made more than two dozen unwanted phone calls to another man. Some of the calls were made from a telephone at the Tamaqua YMCA, after the victim blocked Leibensperger's cellphone number.

The calls were made on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28.

Officers picked him up at the YMCA at 3:07 p.m. on Dec. 28 just as he made another call to the victim.

Leibensperger was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges of stalking and harassment. The judge set bail at $25,000. Unable to post the required 10 percent, Leibensperger was lodged in the county prison.
