Driver suffers medical problem, crashes

A New York state driver suffered a diabetic medical emergency while driving northbound on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County on Wednesday and crashed his vehicle.

State police at Frackville said Patrick M. Damon, 87, of Horseheads, New York, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan northbound at 4:12 p.m. in Foster Township when he suffered the emergency. The van went onto the berm and struck the guardrail. Damon was not injured. He was cited for the crash, troopers said.
