Speeding woman cited for DUI

McAdoo Police cited a Mahanoy City woman as a result of a traffic stop on Dec. 31.

An officer was monitoring traffic shortly before midnight, in the 200 block of South Kennedy Drive, when he saw an orange Chevrolet HHR traveling at an apparent high rate of speed. The speed limit on Kennedy Drive is 25 mph.

The officer activated the lights and sirens on his cruiser and followed the HHR, which he timed at more than 50 mph. He initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Kimberly Hons. Hons appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.

She was given, and failed, field sobriety tests.

Hons was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.
