Carbon driver facing fleeing charge

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and related counts following an incident that occurred on Sunday.

State police at Lehighton said troopers attempted to stop a vehicle which had been previously reported stolen in Altoona. The driver, later identified as David Allen Anthony, 27, of Lehighton, failed to stop and led troopers on a 5-mile high speed chase through Lehighton and Mahoning Township.

Anthony was taken into custody following a foot pursuit. Troopers said marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Anthony is currently an inmate in the county prison in Nesquehoning.
