Luzerne driver facing DUI count in McAdoo
Stopping beyond the "Stop Here on Red" sign can bring you to the attention of police as Charles Jackson of Hazle Township learned on Jan. 1.
Jackson was driving a silver Toyota at 2:04 a.m. when he stopped well beyond such a sign on Kennedy Drive in McAdoo. Officers on patrol noticed the violation and initiated a traffic stop.
When Jackson opened his Toyota's window to speak to police the odors of alcohol and marijuana drifted from the vehicle. Jackson denied drinking, despite the abundance of open containers of Guinness and Yuengling beer in the back seat. When asked about marijuana he refused to answer.
Jackson failed field sobriety tests and was cited for driving under the influence.
