State police at Frackville are investigating the theft of a boat and trailer that was reported on Dec. 15.

Troopers said Allen Baldwin, 64, of Oswego, New York, was driving northbound on Interstate 81, possibly in the Frackville area, when he began experiencing problems with one of the wheels on his boat trailer.

He left the interstate and parked the boat and trailer in an unknown parking lot. He then drove to Hazleton and purchased a new wheel for the trailer. When he returned, the boat and trailer were gone.

The boat is a 1985, 14-foot Smoke Craft flat-bottom fishing boat with metallic brown exterior and aqua blue interior with a Hull, 15 horsepower Evinrude motor. The trailer is a 1985 model with New York license plate BC28317.

The boat is valued at $1,200. Baldwin is offering a reward of $200 for the return of the boat and trailer, troopers said.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.
