Driver cited after one-car crash

Brandon S. Mearian, 18, of Donaldson, was citedafter a one-vehicle crash at 10 p.m. Feb. 6 on Main Street in Porter Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said he was operating a 2006 Toyota Camry northbound when he swerved off the roadway and the car traveled onto the grassy, snow-covered shoulder, striking a utility pole about 15 feet off the roadway with its front bumper. Police said the car spun clockwise and struck a tree with its driver's side rear bumper/quarter panel.

Police said the driver and a passenger, Raymond K. Symons, 56, of Tremont, fled the scene before police arrived. They were later located at the residence of the registered owner of the car and were uninjured.

Police said the car sustained significant damages and was towed from the scene.
