Watch out for Big Bad Wolf
Dear Editor,
All of us have heard the story of the big bad wolf and the three little pigs. Much to our amazement, this story is becoming popular again; not to the children, rather to the taxpayers. We as residents of Pennsylvania are taxpayer piglets to our government, which for the sake of this letter shall be referred to as the "Big Bad Wolf." (By the way, I am in no way referring to our governor, whose name happens to be Wolf. Honestly!)
Getting right to the story, we all fit into the category of at least one of the little pigs. Some are elderly, getting by on a fixed income with no nest egg to fall back on. They are living in "straw houses." Then we have the little pigs living in "stick houses" and working in a 39-hour job, striving toward the 40-hour job with a few benefits. Lastly, there are the little pigs living in "brick houses" that are assessed out of this world, hence husband and wife both work and have latchkey kids at home.
There we have our Pennsylvanians, all facing the Big Bad Wolf who wants to blow all their houses (and possessions) to smithereens with higher sales tax, income tax and taxes on just about everything else! (Can they tax a loaf of bread?)
All the Wolf needs is a few billion dollars! Furthermore, if we don't like it, we are supposed to look for another job! Every day Tennessee looks better! Anybody want to help me pack?
Respectfully, Richard M. Gross
