Speed stop leads to DUI count

A speeding stop along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Townshipled to the driver being arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

State police at Fern Ridge said Anthony Spruill, 30, of New York City, was stopped for going 80 mph at 8:42 a.m. Jan. 22. At the stop it was determined that Spruill was under the influence of a controlled substance. A search resulted in a THC wax and hemp rolling papers being found on Spruill and a small amount of marijuana found in the glove compartment.

Troopers also noted that Spruill had two passengers in the vehicle, both from New York City, ages 57 and 38, but not identified by police.
