4 injured in Schuylkill crash
Four people were injured in a rear-end crash that occurred at 6:05 p.m. Monday along Route 183 at the intersection with Plum Creek Road in Wayne Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Todd E. Kline, 42, of Douglassville, Berks County, and Carol L. Hummel, 63, of Pine Grove, were both southbound. Kline failed to see Hummel slowing down, and the front of his 2016 Chevrolet Equinox struck the rear of Hummel's 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Upon impact the Jeep traveled about 72 feet through the two lanes of travel and onto the east berm. It then traveled about 120 feet along the berm and came to rest in the parking lot of a bank. After impact the Equinox traveled southwest for 32 feet, coming to rest along the west berm.
Kline, Hummel and her passengers, Lamar G. Hummel, 85, and Scott D. Hummel, 35, also of Pine Grove, were all injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street in Pottsville.
Troopers cited Kline for careless driving.
