Mammogram clinic at BMHS

Blue Mountain Health System will offer two mammogram clinics. The first will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 8 at the Gnaden Huetten campus, 211 N. 12th St. in Lehighton. The second is from 8 a.m. until noon June 14 at the Palmerton campus, 135 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.

Breast cancer screening looks for signs of cancer before a woman has symptoms. Screening can help find breast cancer early, when the chance of successful treatment is best.

Two tests are commonly used to screen for breast cancer: mammogram, a low-dose X-ray exam of the breasts to look for changes that are not normal, and clinical breast exam. Includes a free mammogram and clinical breast exam with a health care professional. A prescription for a screening mammogram will be supplied.

Open to people who are uninsured or underinsured only. Co-sponsored by the Women's 5K Classic.
