Deadline for cookbook contest is Sunday

The deadline for the 28th annual Times News Cookbook and Recipe Contest is just around the corner.
You have only until 11:59 p.m. Sunday to submit your favorite original recipe.
Prizes this year include a minifridge from Saltzer’s Appliances; a Panini maker, courtesy of the Times News; gift certificates from the Jim Thorpe Market, Giant, Heintzelman’s Meat Market, Mallard Market and Sonia’s Sweet Inspirations.
This year’s categories include Breakfast, Appetizers, Dips and Spreads, Soups and Stews, Main Dishes and Sides, and Dessert.
Everyone who enters will receive a prize.
One winner will be chosen in each category. Those six winners will be required to bring a sampling of their winning dish to the Times News office in Mahoning Township, where our panel of judges will determine this year’s grand prize winner.
Judges this year include Toni Marie Macaluso from Macaluso’s Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, and sugar artist Candy Repsher Knappenberger.
Each category winner will be featured in our annual cookbook with a photo and short biography, as well as a photo of their winning dish.
This year’s cookbook will be published on Nov. 5.
Remember, the deadline to submit your original recipe is 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Winners will be notified by Oct. 8.
