Eldred supervisors
Eldred Township supervisors will meet at 7:30 tonight at the municipal building in Kunkletown.
Legion meets
The West End American Legion is slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Post home in Gilbert.
The West End Home Association has its meeting on the calendar for 7:30 tonight.
Center closed
The Chestnuthill Senior center will be closed this Friday. The menu for next week Wednesday and Friday is Swiss steak on July 8 and grilled chicken Cobb salad on July 10.
On July 8 a special program, Salad Days, will be presented at 11 a.m.
To make a meal reservation folks are asked to call the site manager, Dolores Casalaspro, at 570-242-6770 or 570-420-3735 by 11 a.m. one day in advance.
The suggested meal donation is $2.
Ross supervisors
Ross Township Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ross Township Municipal Building on Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.
Chestnuthill supervisors
The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
Blood drive
Every Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. people can help save lives by donating whole blood or blood platelets at Western Pocono Community Library.

Lioness board
The board of directors for the Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at noon July 8 at Cherry's in Kresgeville. All members are welcome.
WEPOSC
The West End Park and Open Space Commission will meet at 7 p.m. July 8 at the municipal building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
Dog adoption
Safe Haven Rescue will hold a dog adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Ace Hardware in Brodheadsville. It is right next to Dunkelberger's.
In addition to adoptive families, Safe Haven needs volunteers who can help with adoption days, fundraising, transporting dogs to vets and groomers, and fostering homeless dogs until a forever home is found.

No PIC meeting
Pride in Chestnuthill will not be meeting in July or August. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 10, at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.
Open mic
Western Pocono Community Library will be hosting its first Open Mic Night at 6 p.m. July 8.
Since this is the first event, the library is looking for preregistration from the acts.
Forms can be obtained at the library, by emailing WPCL6@ptd.net or by calling the library at 570-992-7934.
This event is open to all ages and talent levels. It will celebrate local talent.
Special program
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs of Monroe County will be speaking at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Homes Inc. in Kunkletown at 6 p.m. July 8. This speaking engagement will only be covering information regarding the veteran and widow pension. RSVP to Carrie Shafer at 610-381-1009.
Carnival coming
The West End Fire Company annual carnival in Brodheadsville will be July 8-11.
The entertainment lineup includes:
Jump Start Band on Wednesday, which is a hand stamp night.
On July 9 Chris Eckert and Leigh Lombardo Cole will entertain and it is time for a cake walk.
July 10 is Steel Creek Band and fireworks by L TNT Pyrotechnics. Around 10:30 one can enjoy a 5-minute finale
July 11, Olde Friends Band will entertain.
Every day includes homemade food, rides, games, bingo, Chinese auction, with a big main prize.
No outside food or drinks are permitted.
Zion VBS
Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville is holding a two-day event for Vacation Bible School on July 10 and 11. Each day begins at 9:30 a.m.
The outreach project for this time is school kits for Nepal.
There will be a wrap-up VBS program at the 10:30 worship service on July 12.

Festival announced
Our Lady Queen of Peace Festival Sunday will be July 12 after the noon Mass in the Church Hall. It begins the afternoon with a Procession of Mary.
There will be a disc jockey, games, a Queen of Peace talent show and a bake-off. Members wishing to enter the third Annual Bake Off must get in touch with Jane Martin.
Desserts will be judged on: taste, 10 points; presentation, 5 points; and originality, 5 points.
There will also be a Kids Kupcake Wars for children 12 and under with the same criteria.
Attendees can enjoy a delicious picnic banquet or bring their own food or drink.
All food is a la carte this year.
DaVinci Science visits
As part of the Summer Reading Program at Western Pocono Community Library, The DaVinci Science Center will be visiting the library for a program on Heroes in Science at 1 p.m. July 15.

Ross Community Day
Ross Township Park Committee will host the seventh annual Community Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the VanBuskirk-Haney Community Park on Anchorage Road in Saylorsburg.
There will be games, demonstrations, entertainment, food and drink and more.
It's an opportunity to promote an organization, recruit new members and raise funds.
