Man is jailed after Schuylkill assault

Joseph A. Deesing, 59, of Ringtown, was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville after his arraignment on charges of simple assault and harassment following a domestic disturbance at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident happened along Little Mountain Road in Union Township. The victim is a 56-year-old female.

Police said Deesing and the female were involved in a verbal argument during which time the accused punched the woman in the face and scratched her arm.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua and incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.
