Two injured in Schuylkill crash
Two people were injured in a crash involving a tractor trailer and car.
State police at Frackville said the crash happened about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday along Interstate 81 in Kline Township.
Troopers said Balkar Singh, 54, of Dollard Des Ormeraux, Québec, Canada, driving a 2005 Kenworth tractor trailer and Deborah Andino-Cabrera, 31, of Hazleton, driving a 2002 Kia Sedona, were both southbound and approaching the McAdoo/Tamaqua exit off ramp. Singh was in the passing lane while Cabrera was in the right lane.
As both vehicles negotiated a slight left curve, the rig began to veer into the right lane. The center of the trailer struck the left side of the Sedona. The entire left side of the Sedona was damaged.
Passengers Hermando Duran, 36, and Amanda Labombard, 29, both of Hazleton, sustained cuts from broken glass, but did not require immediate medical attention. A 10-month-old infant was in a child safety seat and was uninjured as was Cabrera; passenger Joseph Cabrera Sr., 23, Hazleton; and Singh. All were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles were driven from the scene. Troopers cited Singh for the crash.
