Schuylkill man jailed for assault

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Saturday following a domestic assault incident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 7 p.m. at 231 E. Wiconisco Ave. in Tower City. Troopers said James Whitman, 25, and a 29-year-old male at that address got involved in a domestic dispute. Whitman, troopers said, punched the victim in the face and head multiple times as well as choked him. The victim suffered injuries to his face and head. Troopers did not indicate if he required medical attention.

Whitman was placed under arrest for simple assault and arraigned before on-call District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post bail, troopers said.
