Vehicle stop leads to drug charges
A vehicle stop in Monroe County has led to various drug charges against the driver.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said Stefan Valentine, 18, of Blakeslee, was stopped at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday along Route 940, at Pocono Crest Road in Tobyhanna Township for traffic violations.
At the stop Valentine appeared to be impaired. He was given field sobriety tests which he failed. A consent search of the vehicle was requested and denied. Valentine was placed under arrest and the vehicle was impounded.
A search warrant was obtained and found in the vehicle was a glass pipe with suspected burnt marijuana residue and a metal grinder with suspected marijuana.
As a result Valentine has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
