Published August 14. 2015 04:00PM

A Jim Thorpe woman is the apparent victim of an email/check scam that state police at the Fern Ridge barracks said took place between July 29 and Aug. 11 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the woman received an email from an unknown actor identified as a James Wagner, who offered her a "work from home" job from Vista Print.

Julian told police she responded to the offer by providing her contact information and agreed to cash checks for the company into her checking account and forward the money to provided addresses and individuals through money gram.

Police said the checks from the victim's account have yet to clear and she suspects she will be out the money she had forwarded from her account.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 570-646-2271.
