Unhappy with Game Commission

State's Game commission needs to wake up

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to "vent."

First they sell record numbers of doe permits - mistake.

They combine doe season with buck season, creating a legal "brown and down" situation - huge mistake.

Now the deer population is at a 30-year low because of the above actions.

What did they do with all of the payoffs from insurance companies for eliminating a large percentage of the deer herd?

Now they have the audacity to request an increase in license fees to hunt nonexistent deer.

The game commission needs to wake up and smell the roses.

Fortunately this does not apply to me; I am 68 years old with a lifetime license. I remember the good ol' days when we used to go spotting on Route 903 north of Jim Thorpe. We used to count hundreds of deer in the fields back in the area of Bear Creek dairy and Unionville.

Now if you are really lucky, on a good night you might count a total of 30. And that's on a good night. The insurance companies wanted the herd reduced in a significant manner, and they got what they wanted.

Thank You,

Bruce McFarland
