15-year-old cited for drinking
McAdoo police were investigating the possible theft of a cellphone on Aug. 1 when they met a young man who had apparently been drinking alcohol.
Officers went to the Adams Street playground at 8:10 p.m. after receiving a report concerning a stolen cellphone. While interviewing people at the playground's basketball courts the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on one young man's breath. When asked his age, the male said he was 20. When asked his date of birth, he gave one that would have made him 23 if it were true.
He was transported to the police station where he admitted to being 15 and gave his true name and address. A portable breath test was given and indicated a 0.006 percent alcohol level.
The teen was released to the custody of his mother and given citations for underage drinking and providing false information to law enforcement.
