Too much to drink at block party

Published September 02. 2015 04:00PM

A Tamaqua area man apparently imbibed a little too freely at a block party on Aug. 7.

Police received a call about a man lying on the ground in the 200 block of Cedar Street at 11:37 p.m. When officers arrived they found Thomas McArdle, 55, of 47 Mill Drive, lying face up on the ground. He was wearing a wrist band from the American Hose Block Party on his wrist and smelled strongly of alcohol. After several attempts, officers were able to wake him, but his speech was unintelligible.

When McArdle attempted to stand, he stumbled and grabbed a wall for balance.

He was transported to the police station and released several hours later with a citation for public drunkenness.
