New York driver facing DUI count
A New York state driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident that occurred at 1:38 a.m. Saturday.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Thomas Jose Ortiz, 41, of Brooklyn. An odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle, police said.
Ortiz was given field sobriety tests, which he failed. A consent search was made of the vehicle, and suspected marijuana was recovered. Ortiz was arrested for DUI of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the county DUI center for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
