Man assaults fiancee's son
A Lansford man faces charges after fighting with his fiancee's 15-year-old son on July 13.
Victor Svitilla, 33, was charged with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, according to a report released Monday by borough police.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Jeffrey J. Tanner, he was dispatched to a West Ridge Street home around 9 p.m. He learned that Svitilla told the boy he was not allowed to have an iPhone. The boy said he was not done with it, and Svitilla reached into the boy's pocket for the phone. When he went to reach into the boy's pocket for the charger, the boy felt threatened and pushed him away. They fell to the ground, and Svitilla punched the boy in the face. The boy got up and tried to leave the house, but Svitilla grabbed him by the back of the shirt, ripping it off. He struck the boy in the face two more times.
The boy was finally able to leave and went to a neighbor's house to call 911. As he stood outside the neighbor's house, Svitilla came out and started yelling at him. Svitilla picked up a brick and threw it in the boy's direction, but it hit a porch. Svitilla went back into the house, came out with an Xbox 360 and smashed it on the street.
