DUI patrols result in multiple citations
Nearly 100 people were cited as a result of roving and stationary DUI patrols undertaken by state police at Lehighton Friday night.
The patrols took place on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.
Police said that as a result of the patrols, seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
Six people were arrested, but released after they passed field sobriety tests.
Eighty-six citations were issued.
Two people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. One fled police and was charged with felony fleeing and eluding while DUI.
Fifty-seven traffic warnings were issued.
A stationary checkpoint was in effect until the flow of traffic made it impractical to remain in operation.
