Thanks for the street repairs in Jim Thorpe

Dear Editor,

I would like to take the time to thank the Jim Thorpe Department of Streets for the repair done to the upper end of South Avenue, behind Carbon Avenue.

This road has been in deplorable shape for many years, making it a difficult job to navigate a vehicle through the rocks and ruts, stones and debris from water runoff after rain, and the rocks and debris thrown in yards from vehicular traffic.

My sincere thanks to John McGuire, chairman of the street department and especially to the street department workers, Tommy Schafer Jr., Nelson Ulshafer Jr. and Jeff Thomas, for their long and hard days in which they worked under the brutal heat conditions. They did a really good job with what they had to work with and the entire neighborhood is thankful.

I am always satisfied with the work the street department does, especially with the snow removal.

We are often too quick to criticize them and not quick enough to thank them for their hard work.

So on behalf of our entire neighborhood, thank you so very much.
