Man charged after 40 bags of heroin found in traffic stop
A Hazle Township man was charged with drug-related offenses after a traffic stop in McAdoo on Aug. 7.
An officer was monitoring traffic at 7:55 p.m. when he timed a gray Jeep traveling at 44 mph in a 25 zone.
The officer stopped the Jeep and asked the driver for his license, registration and insurance.
The man said the vehicle was his brother's and he didn't know where to locate those items.
He gave his name as Corey Bilsak.
When the officer ran the name and date of birth through a records check he was notified that a Bilsak had been cited earlier that day on drug related charges.
The officer then went back and spoke to Bilsak, asking him to empty his pockets after noticing a large bulge in the front pants pocket.
The bulge was made by an Altoids tin. Inside the container were four bundles (40 bags) of suspected heroin. Bilsak also had three needles and a spoon on his person. He then admitted he was Thomas Bilsak, not Corey.
He gave his brother's name as his own driver's license was suspended.
He was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for blood work.
After receiving the results of those tests the officer charged Bilsak with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and traffic offenses.
