Published October 21. 2015 04:00PM

McAdoo police have cited Justin Lawlor of Andreas in connection with a traffic stop made on Aug. 29.

An officer was on patrol at 11:23 p.m. on South Kennedy drive when he observed a gray Jeep that had a nonfunctioning brake light. The officer stopped the Jeep and identified Lawlor as the driver.

Lawlor became nervous as the officer spoke with him. He consented to having his vehicle searched after telling the officer he didn't have anything illegal in the Jeep.

As the officer prepared to look in the vehicle, Lawlor admitted there were hypodermic needles in the backseat. He claimed they belonged to his "buddies who used them to do heroin."

The officer located 10 needles in an empty lollipop bag, as well a prescription pill bottle with a woman's name as the patient.

As Lawlor was being searched before being arrested two small bags of suspected crystal meth were found in his wallet.

He was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses.
