Two people sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:36 p.m. Nov. 15 on the Fireline Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said the driver of the vehicle, Christopher J. Rider, 33, of Palmerton, and a passenger, William C. Kresge, 34, of Aquashicola, were the injured parties.

Police said the crash occurred when Rider was operating a 2007 Kia Rondo at an unsafe speed westbound. Police said he was negotiating a right curve in the road when a deer came out onto the highway. Police said Rider swerved to avoid striking the deer but lost control of the Rondo, which traveled into the oncoming lane of travel and off onto the south shoulder of the road, striking a tree approximately 100 feet into the woods. The car came to a final rest facing westbound about 100 feet off the south shoulder of the road.

Police said the operator was charged in the incident.
