Tamaqua man cited for retail theft

Dennis W. Helfrich, 43, of 425 Railroad St., Tamaqua, was cited for retail theft on Nov. 13 after an incident at Boyer's Food Market in the borough.

Police were dispatched to the grocery store at 210 Cedar St. at 3 p.m. Helfrich had been detained by store personnel after he was observed placing several items under a store circular in the top part of the shopping cart.

Helfrich then went through the check out line paying for the items from the bottom of the cart but not for the hidden items. He was stopped before leaving the store. The stolen items were valued at $14.15.

He was cited for retail theft.
