Two cited after traffic stop

Published November 18. 2015 04:00PM

Two people were cited as a result of a traffic stop in McAdoo on Aug. 28.

McAdoo police were monitoring traffic when they saw a silver vehicle driving south on Kennedy Drive at 9:03 p.m. The driver's side headlight wasn't working and the officer initiated a traffic stop.

While speaking with the driver the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana. The driver, Erica Rupert, of Drums, and her passenger, Brandon Hoffman, of Hazleton, both admitted to smoking pot within the past half-hour.

During a search of the vehicle the officer found a glass jar containing suspected marijuana, a glass pipe with burnt residue and a roach clip with marijuana residue.

Rupert was given, and failed, a field sobriety test.

She was cited for driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hoffman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
