Speed stop leads to DUI arrest
A Schuylkill Haven woman has been cited by Tamaqua police after she was caught speeding during a state Aggressive Driving Campaign detail.
An officer was monitoring traffic on Route 309, near the intersection with Owl Creek Road, at 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 12. He timed a gray Toyota Camry, traveling north, at a speed of 61.9 mph in an area zoned for 45 mph.
The officer stopped the Camry in the parking lot of Burger King on Center Street and identified the driver as Julie F. Putlock, 51, of 412 High St.
Putlock appeared to be drunk and failed three field sobriety tests.
She was transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale for blood tests, but refused to allow the blood to be drawn.
The car was towed from the scene.
She was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and released to the custody of her son.
