Interstate 80 stop leads to arrest

Joshua Norbert Garced, 26, of Hazleton, was arrested by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks on charges of receiving stolen property and related offenses, following an incident at 7:28 p.m. Monday.

Police said he was stopped while driving a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria westbound on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, after which time police learned that the registration plate on the vehicle was stolen from Delaware. Further investigation led to the seizure of a Pennsylvania registration plate that was stolen.

Police said they also learned Garced was wanted on an active warrant out of New York City.

He was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, pending arraignment on the local charges, as well as extradition to New York.
